There was a special lecture by sound artist Kim Young-eun. I was thinking about art using various media these days. Through this lecture, I had the opportunity to appreciate works of art using sound and listen to explanations about sound art, which seemed to broaden my thinking. Kim Young-eun's works ranged from using certain places to making sounds related to social memory, especially those that used the characteristics of places reminded me of creative methods that I had never thought of. It reminded me of studying art works using places in the class I took last semester.
I thought sound was the most abstract and difficult to understand because it was invisible. But after listening to the special lecture, I learned that sound art can embrace even intuitive and realistic topics such as social memories and daily life.
In fact, until I made the poster, I couldn't easily answer what sound art would mean to a visual artist. The image in the poster is a graphical representation of the image of the sound that I thought would look like a waveform with various colors. Until then, sound was nothing but something reminiscent of waveforms and color spectra. But through the lecture, I realized that sound was a good medium for delivering messages and expressing the artist's imagination in a different way from the visual media.
