물은 모든 것을 포용한다.
모든 생명은 물로부터 나왔고 물로 인해 살아간다.
우리는 물에서 안정감을 찾기도 하고 즐거움을 얻기도 하며, 때로는 그 헤아릴 수 없는 깊이와 넓이에 위압감을 느끼기도 한다.
그리고 소리. 소리는 '그곳에 있음'을 알려주는 동시에, 보이는 것과는 다른 세계로 이끈다.
물이 떨어지는 소리는 내게 물의 존재를 인식시켜 주면서, 내가 있는 공간을 편안함으로 채운다.
물소리는 음악이 되기도 하고, 추억을 불러오는 오디오 테이프가 되기도 하고, 온 몸을 덮는 이불이 되기도 한다.
빗소리와 색면으로 구성된 이 비디오는 내가 물로부터 느끼는 것들을 다른 사람들과 공유하기 위해 만들어졌다. 한 화면에 세 개로 구성된 빗소리가 여러가지 소리를 내면서 마치 오케스트라의 연주처럼 어우러지는 동안, 색의 흐름이 화면을 채우며 물이 흐르는 느낌을 배가시킨다.
이 영상은 맑은 날 새벽, 한적한 공터에서 상영되었다. 빗소리가 빈 공간과 빈 시간을 채우기를 바랬기 때문이다. 생각이 많은 새벽에 흐르는 빗소리가 누군가의 고민을 잠재우길 바라면서.
Water embraces everything.
All life comes from water and lives by water.
We find comfort and pleasure in the water, and sometimes we are overwhelmed by its immeasurable depth and breadth.
And sound. Sound informs us of 'being there', while at the same time leading us to a world different from what appears.
The sound of water dripping makes me aware of the existence of water, filling my space with comfort.
The sound of water becomes music, audio tape that brings back memories, and blanket that covers the whole body.
Composed of rain sounds and color fields, this video was made to share with others what I felt from water. While the three-piece rain sounds on a single screen, blending like an orchestra's performance, the flow of color fills the screen and doubles the feeling of water flowing.
The video was shown in a quiet open area and in the dawn on a clear day. This is because I wanted the sound of rain to fill the empty space and time. I hope that the sound of the rain that flows at dawn will calm someone's worries.
